The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana provides a direct central government subsidy to residential homeowners installing grid-connected rooftop solar. Installing a rooftop solar panel in Chennai under this scheme requires an ALMM-listed panel, a TANGEDCO-empanelled vendor, and an active electricity connection in the applicant's name. The subsidy amount is determined by system capacity:

The subsidy covers residential rooftop installations only. Commercial and industrial systems do not qualify. Panels must be ALMM-listed and manufactured in India. The installer must be registered on the PM Surya Ghar national portal as an empanelled vendor.
Nantech Power Systems is empanelled with TANGEDCO as an authorised solar vendor under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. Only empanelled vendors can register your installation on the national portal and initiate the subsidy credit to your bank account. An unempanelled installer cannot do this on your behalf, regardless of what they quote you.
From the point of installation, Nantech registers your system on the national portal, submits the TANGEDCO net meter application, coordinates the inspection, and completes the subsidy documentation linked to your bank account. You receive the subsidy as a direct bank transfer once the net meter is commissioned. The timeline depends on TANGEDCO inspection scheduling in your area. We confirm the appointment and track it through to completion.
